The Press

Field Order Press is an independent press devoted to select literary works that I have written centered on the history of the African diaspora. Although I am also agented and traditionally published, I established this press in 2014 as a platform to share Afro-narratives without the pressures of conforming to mainstream storytelling.

My first novel, The Truth About Awiti, won the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards Gold Medal for Multicultural Fiction. Used by high schools, colleges and universities to teach the history of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the historical fantasy was also a ForewordReviews 2015 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award Finalist. My first poetry collection, Dear Ancestors, was published in September 2016.

Forthcoming works include They Called Us Black Shame, which focuses on the fate of Afro Germans during the Holocaust, and Don’t Say Clementine, a short novel that tells the history of the first Black female serial killer. Please visit my personal website for a complete list of literary works.

Thank you for supporting independent creatives!
